Last week, I wrote a post about my favorite Christmas movies for adults. Frankly, sometimes you need a break from all the family movies that are around this time year. I do love family Christmas movies though, and I wanted to do a post on my five favorites. I’ve also included my favorite quote from each of them.
If you don’t love the movie elf with Will Ferrell, I don’t understand you, and we can’t be friends. This is a laugh out loud Christmas movie, and it is on our to do list every single single December . In fact, most Christmases we watch it more than once!
Buddy: “We elves try to stick to the four main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corn and syrup.”
2. Fred Claus
Vince Vaughn never ceases to delight me! He is hilarious in this movie where he plays Santa Claus’ disgruntled older brother. The sibling rivalry between them is epic! My kids love it, There are loads of laughs, and I get to watch Vince. Winner all around!!
Elf: “Can I get a ho-ho…”
3. The Santa Clause
Tim Allen stars in this romp that sees him becoming Santa Claus after an accident at his home takes out the current Santa. The original is a great movie, but I don’t live all the sequels.
Scott: “Who gave you permission to tell Charlie there was no Santa Claus? I think if we’re going to destroy our sons delusions, I should be a part of it.”
4. Home Alone
As a parent, the premise of this movie makes me cringe. Kevin McAllister gets left alone at Christmas while his family flies to Europe, for getting him in all the hustle and bustle. Then, he has to fight off would be burglars. While the premise makes me cringe, the movie makes me laugh! It’s a classic, and my kids love it.
“Keep the change, ya filthy animal.”
5. A Muppet Christmas Carol
Re-tell any story using the Muppets, and I am going to watch it. I adore the Muppets and I have since I was a little kid, so I make my kids watch this one every year. The Muppets retelling of the classic story a Christmas Carol is such fun to watch!
Rizzo: “Mother always taught me: never eat singing food”
There are dozens of Family Christmas Movies out there. It I s, after all, the season for family togetherness! These five movies are my favorites. What are your favorite Christmas Movies for the Family?
